When Pom Pom at Home founder Hilde Leiaghat and her husband, Reza, moved into their new home after 30 years, they embraced it as a true fresh start—one where they could create a space that reflects who they are now. That journey was beautifully captured in Sunset Magazine’s February/March 2025 Wellness Issue in a 10-page feature interview with Hilde, titled New Beginnings.
The article delves into what it was like to step into a completely different design aesthetic, leaving everything from our past home behind. It was both exciting and a little daunting, but ultimately, the process allowed us to craft a space that feels truly like us.
As the founders of Pom Pom at Home, design has always been at the heart of our lives. The article touches on our history—how we once owned four Pom Pom Interiors stores across Los Angeles, where we constantly rotated our collection of antiques and linens, creating ever-evolving spaces. About 15 years ago, we shifted our focus entirely to manufacturing home textiles, a decision that allowed us to refine and expand our vision.
In the interview, Reza and I share how we approached designing our new home from scratch. Without bringing pieces from our previous house, we had the freedom to build something fresh and cohesive, blending our individual styles into a home that feels warm, inviting, and uniquely ours.
As this issue of Sunset comes out, our hearts are with everyone affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. So many in our greater community have suffered unimaginable loss, and we are profoundly grateful that our home in Pasadena was spared. In sharing this story, we simply hope to offer a moment of inspiration and a sense of home—something that feels especially important in times of uncertainty and recovery.
